Mojan Vertical Mechanical Bar Screens are designed for the continuous removal of coarse solids from wastewater streams. The equipment consists of a fixed vertical frame, mechanical cleaning rake, rake cleaner, screening grid, and a hydraulic drive system equipped with a double-acting cylinder.
The main structural components can be manufactured from structural steel or stainless steel, depending on the project requirements and operating conditions. The screening grid consists of parallel flat bars or round bars designed to retain coarse solids from the wastewater flow.
Vertical mechanical screens can be installed in open channels as a preliminary treatment unit in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. Their main application is in locations where the collected screenings need to be discharged at a significant elevation above the channel or ground level.
Main Components
The main components of Mojan Vertical Mechanical Bar Screens include:
- Fixed vertical main frame
- Screening grid
- Mechanical cleaning rake
- Rake cleaning mechanism
- Hydraulic drive system
- Double-acting hydraulic cylinder
- Moving carriage
- Guide system
- Hinged rake cleaner
- Screenings discharge chute
The frame and structural components can be manufactured from structural steel or stainless steel according to the required corrosion resistance and project conditions.
Operating Mechanism
Mojan Vertical Mechanical Bar Screens operate automatically based on the upstream water level.
When screenings accumulate on the screening grid and cause the upstream water level to rise above the preset level, the Level Switch activates the cleaning cycle.
The cleaning rake is mounted on a moving carriage. Once the hydraulic system is activated, the rake moves downward toward the bottom of the channel. Under its own weight, the rake engages firmly with the screening grid.
The hydraulic cylinder then drives the rake upward along the screen. The rake moves within a dedicated guide system, ensuring continuous contact with the screening grid throughout its travel and effectively collecting the accumulated screenings retained between the bars.
When the rake reaches the upper section of the screen, a hinged rake cleaner positioned at the top of the main frame removes the collected screenings from the rake.
The screenings are then transferred onto an inclined discharge chute, allowing them to be conveyed outside the screening channel for collection and disposal.
