The buried MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) wastewater treatment package is an effective solution for the treatment of domestic wastewater and certain industrial wastewater applications. It is particularly suitable for projects with limited available space, architectural and environmental requirements, or where minimizing the visual impact of treatment equipment above ground is required.
In this system, the reactor and the main treatment equipment are installed inside a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) prefabricated tank, which is placed underground. The biological treatment process is carried out using moving biological media, where microorganisms grow as a biofilm on the surface of the media and degrade organic pollutants present in the wastewater.
The movement of the media inside the reactor is achieved through an engineered aeration and mixing system, providing effective contact between wastewater, oxygen, and biofilm for enhanced treatment performance.

Important Design and Installation Considerations
Since the tank is installed underground, its structural design and installation method must be selected according to the burial depth, soil conditions, groundwater level, surface loads, and actual site conditions.
Therefore, the tank wall thickness and structural configuration, foundation preparation, anchoring method, and installation procedure must be determined by the designer based on the specific project requirements.
